Dr. Max Web Design System

I took end-to-end ownership of a new web design system and ran it like a product. The goal: one source of truth that speeds delivery and raises quality across our sites. With front-end engineers, we moved beyond a static styleguide to a production design system in code alongside a Figma component library. The system is hosted at design.drmax.eu with role-based entry, component docs, and design tokens (color, type, spacing) driving both the library and code. Each component includes accessibility guidance and states; colour usage is backed by on-brand contrast checking. Brand and content section is being continuously built. The result is fewer one-offs, faster handoffs, and more consistent UI. Teams ship sooner because they reuse well-documented, accessible components instead of rebuilding. It also gives us a stronger baseline for EAA-ready experiences and a clear path for contribution and versioning as the system grows.
